Bad script, sensitive performances... - The Daag story

Half a weekend in Chennai and what do I achieve? - an evening in Satyam- well not really....a matinee is more like it. Entered the theater with a completely negative mindset thanks to all the reviews on the stain story. The Jodha Akbar n the Queen bee's comeback film's trailers kept my spirits up and so it remained all the way till the opening song ....

Enter the daag minus the saabun...let us not even get to discussing the story line - ok i will keep it short if i must. start story *Career counselors come undercover these days - here we see two of those - one in the form of a courtesan who gives subtle comments about innocent eyes doing sufficient damage and the other a BPO employee giving gyaan on "night-shift" opportunities under aliases - add masala to suit your tastes; add song(s) to help in promos* end story

It is the star cast that makes you sit thru the movie (atleast in my case). Kunal, konkana and rani, (strictly in that order) make sure that they don't bore you with melodrama or cliched potrayal in a "much-ado-about nothing" fashion; they make you empathize with the characters they represent -... oh well, jaya n abi(shake) do that as well.... (clap clap for the big B's pathni and beta jaan) Thank god for the dialogues for maintaining the tempo.

However, juvenile screenplay at crucial scenes does all the damage....we know whats causing the stain!
