Sarojaaaaaaaaaa

By now anyone with a remote connection to Chennai is likely to have had an overdose of the "samaan nikaalo" jargon...Finally gotto watch the pettai i grew up in, on the big screen in all its splendour - if only i could say the same about the theater in sampige..

The movie is a riot and as realistic as it can get in representing the theme dealt with - gully cricket...only a true madrasi can understand the emotions that accumulate as a result of repeatedly hearing "seth" songs when in the mood to groove. The irresistible urge to "let go" and give way to the call of liberation sets the stage for the inimitable and irreplaceable "kuththu". Whatever be the mood of the song, it will be addressed in a true "local" attitude. The menacing looks, twisted anatomies, kite flying, tongue licking are all part of the fiesta and are not to be confused with illness of some sort. If only our seth counterparts were more open to the concept and stop coming up with feeble excuses that invariably border on the lines of "i-cannot-relate-to-this-kinda-dance".

I for one, truly believe that meesic knows no language - after all, i danced to a kannada kuththu the other night....& had no qualms with that.........
