The 10 avataars..

Back from the movie - a wholesome experience - the thrill of watching Kamal fill the screen, literally with the 10 characters he portrays. It is not so much about the story line or the characterization that I am thrilled about. (In fact that was hardly what I was looking forward to but that's a clear side track) It is the sheer excitement of watching this man add a new dimension to any of the roles he plays. Clearly the pick of the 10 is Naidu....the rendition of the unmistakable (yet without the slightest hint of being overdone) Telugu-accented-English will go down as one of his best performances - ever.

The parallel plot running through the narration - the constant reference to Vishnu - held me in awe in a subconscious level as was the effect the racy screenplay was having on the less subtle of my being. Be it the names - Govinda/Boo varahan/Ranganathar/Krishnaveni/Avatar/Balaram or the essence of these characters/the strange twists - there is a mystical force that draws them all in the path that is called destiny.

"Where is God? I would like to know" says the protagonist - for we know that at some level of cliche'd articulation a vast majority of us would have made a reference to the age of Kali - which marks the beginning of the last avataar of Vishnu. The man is a genius.......

Dabba Movie! Insipid Narration!Blind Crazy Fans! Aascar and his black money! Recipe for Busavatharam.

If this movie becomes a hit, we will have more of the man and an additional 70 mm for his ego.

You are falling into the trap buddy!

I don't want to sound like am defending the film/Kamal - coz thats certainly not my intention...lets put it this way - it was an entertainer - the predominant reason i goto a theater to watch movies - whether it comes from Rajini or Kamal - who cares....lets not bucket them and decide who has to do what ...:P

Good defence of the man and hence the movie. This movie was a freak show and not an entertainer! And don't even get into Kamal vs. Rajini. This is not about Rajini at all...clearly he is king :-). And this ain't the last word :P
