You buy a bottle of mineral water; not coz you are a videsh-return; it is coz you have been blessed with a biological system that is prone to all the infections caused by the innumerable microorganisms thriving in the ecosystem. You gulp it down with greed and try to savor the wonderful thirst-quenching moment when this person from nowhere props up next to you demand a right-royal share of the ambrosia......" why dont u get yourself a bottle ?" you wanna ask; "this is mine; i dont wanna give you"you wanna scream.....
But you do no such thing & grudgingly give in, only to find the bottle almost-empty and the unwelcome-water-sharer heading toward a roadside pani puri stall....
grrrr.....next time...next time....

once i was going to mumbai by train from madurai. I bought a 2lr (25 rs may be bigger bottle) water bottle for myself for the same resons you mentioned. One Bhai sitting next to me took my bottle gave it to his boy which he promptly emptied most of it. I asked that bhai why did he give that to that boy without asking me. He said "enna thambi vangina mathiri pesaringa, inga pidichadhu thane, sinna payaluku kudukardhuku enna?".
So am not the "chosen" one....that's some solace...:P
I get the same feeling when someone asks to swap MY middle berth (that I took special care to book) with a lousy-dirty upper berth.. or worse, asks to share it. ["ellarum okkandhuttu poidalame?" enna oru nalla ennam!]
Too many train journeys in recent times- andha effect.. :P
