Walker's woe...

"Morning walks are always better than an evening stroll" - my dad used to say... he still does..
ive started to see why - literally.

A brisk walk at dawn means a lot of energizing early in the day not to mention loss of precious sleep-time...but it also meant that you could grasp a lot of worldy matters by just keeping your ears open...the need to make a conscious effort to overhear (& hence experience slight guilt pangs if you have a conscience) does not arise coz almost all of the early-wakers/walkers in the 1.5km coastal stretch seem to have a built-in dolby system.

So you can find yourself inadvertently discovering the wedding plans of a us-return-sujatha, the plight of arasi on s** tv's prime-time soap, how-to-deal-with-a-dominating-husband/child, mouth-watering recipe (in case of a group of mamis), tips on how-indian-cricket-can-be-improved or current-affairs (by retired-60-somethings in branded polo-tshirts and crisp shorts) ....the list goes on...& is usually sufficient to satisfy my intellectual appetite till i have a go at "the hindu" alongwith a dose of aromatic filter-coffee....

Taking utmost advantage of the increasing number of fitness-conscious ppl are the tender-coconut and vegetable/"keerai" sellers.... needless to say that their business is roaring...

After enjoying the sights (& sounds) of the day, moi decided to venture into the sunset-life.... - the familiar cricket/football/volleyball-playing groups, toddlers learning to walk , icecream vendors.....i smiled to myself taking in the pleasant breeze that had started blowing and walked further down only to discover hordes and hordes of couples doused generously by cupid.......for some strange reason i found myself inspecting the ground intently till i was back on "safe" grounds....a little further...middle-aged intoxicated men in an auto (atleast it wasnt a call-taxi) making not-so-pleasant remarks ...

Fancy a walk anyone?!
