Happened to glance (& that my friends is the key-word and my disclaimer) through an article in the paper that expressed the views of sex-workers in the Kolkatta demanding labour laws' be applied to them....- never got a chance to find out what the implications where - but it certainly caused me to choke over my coffee ....what is the world coming to? As it is, am on the way to becoming an elite life-time-member of the severe-reverse-culture-shock-afflicted-club - & now this!
Why is our society moving towards complete deterioration in terms of culture? we have conveniently ignored all those practices that infuse a sense of discipline & go a long way in helping us become better individuals.....leave aside all that - the dilapidation in moralities has sprung from ruthlessly ignoring our conscience - the inner voice, resulting in the justification of erroneous/immoral actions.
Really now...where are we heading to????????

I think such lawas are very essential.
Prostitution is the oldest occupation and could never be abloished. But lack of any law to protect them helps more exploitation. I think it is time our law makers give some serious thought for the welfare of sex workers and their families.
