Date with Agassi, staten island ferry & the tamale....

Tx to the *viz* kid, moi gotto witness top class tennis over the weekend in flushing meadows - the mens semi-finals featuring america's sweetheart Agassi, the inimitable Federer, Hewit .....SIGH! spent almost the entire day watching some of the most exquisite shots from the last row in the arthur ashe stadium while we tried to keep ourselves cool (from the hot sun mostly)... there was this desi couple sittin right in front of us, that had a baby - which had made up its mind to make its presence felt...so here v vere, provided with more *action* bordering on bottle feeds, squeals, wails, & even diaper changes while Agassi was closin in on the clueless Genepri...
so much for our saturday excitement!

Saturday nite turned out to be a fitting end with some remarkably potent 'ritas & lively conversation to go with....about the food - well, the less said the better. but since ive brought it up - let me make a mention...- here i was, genuinely confused, asking nadal's twin to help me choose from the tex-mex menu...& with all assurances ended up ordering a vegetable tamale....the dish turned out to be a piece of dried corn leaf (dried when, we dunno) covered with green, red & white coloured pieces (the lightin was dim & restricted my vision whilst identifying what they were)...i nudged the twin in despair who shared my shock & was just as clueless as i was - the 'rita had taken effect long ago & i vas the guinea pig...caught between cattle fodder & the wily twin...
i vowed to never trust an espanol speaking PhD student...

The next day was just as eventful - as I managed to do all kindsa touristy stuff such as taking the free ferry to staten island while posing with the statue of liberty in the back drop, walk down 5th avenue to catch a glimpse of the empire state building, gape at the lights on times square, manage to look thoroughly lost while takin the sub, & walk thru central park to name a few.....

Had jolly gud fun with V & her friends - & vud have loved to spend more time given the chance....
but for now, bk to pavilion - no hustle bustle, no skycrapers or bright lights , not even a gang of friends to chill out with.... just a deep hole in my pocket & a coupla souvenirs & already looking fwd to my next visit! :)
