Does sport even exist these days? I doubt it ...all that it stands for is money, brand ambassadors, advertisements, contracts, ....- totally commercialized. It can all be argued in favor by saying its *gud for the game* , personally id think that its taken the focus away from what sport really is..
take cricket for starters (i had to say that dint i) - whatever hpnd to the energy and zeal that the likes of kapil/engineer/prasanna/pataudi (oops) ...exhibited? oh pardon me....our current team does show a lot of enthusiasm - off the field - while givin out commercials ...
a huge amt of money goes with every win that the charm of the game is lost - its all abt hittin sixers, scoring centuries & bowling ppl out - but for all the wrong reasons - it means more bucks...as simple as that...& it doesnt stop with the players. theres this huge betting thingy thats caught on like the greencard fever, which seems to dictate who the winner shud be...
i dont mean to sound like am hurling accusations randomly but well i used to be a hard-core cricket fan and now i dont even the names of the playing 11 not to mention who the captain is! - a silent protest against the unhealthy commercialization that is in existence...i wud attribute it to the media hype to a great deal...its like - 'all scene and no show' !
wish things would change for the good & we getto c some real sport and hopefully our men in blue bring bk the world cup - its time we got down to business....;)
